With energy efficient buildings 63 million tons of green house gas emissions can be avoided in Germany alone.
Through insulation, replacement of heating systems, building management, and efficient electrical devices we can reach the highest level of energy efficiency. An extensive modernization of old buildings bears considerably more profitable results than realizing certain standards for individual buildings alone.
Because most of the additional investments for these measures result in major energy savings, about 90 percent of the measures turn out to be feasible from an investor’s point of view. However, there are often substantial hindrances to their implementation, as for example the total sum of investments and the comparatively long amortization periods.
