”A huge mitigation potential lies in the transportation sector“
28 Million tons of green house gas (GHG) can be abated through technical improvements and the use of bio-fuels. To some extent these innovations bear economic advantages for the consumer, as for example energy savings through an improvement of gas and diesel engines.
The recently pressured development and implementation of hybrids and the improvement on the drive train of trucks strained Germany’s economy with high investment costs, making GHG abatement in the transportation sector costly.
For rail and air traffic the biggest abatement potentials lie in continuous technical improvements and in optimizing load factors towards total efficiency. .
