The "Berlin Call": German Industry calls for Global Climate Protection

German industry calls on the international community to establish a global and reliable agreement at the UN COP 15 in Copenhagen. "A legally binding agreement is very important for the German industry. We need investment protection and planning security for worldwide investment in climate friendly technologies. Climate protection and growth are two sides of the same coin," BDI President Hans-Peter Keitel declared.

Climate Protection during Recession – First or Last Priority?

“Can we afford climate protection even in the face of the current economic crisis?” This was one of the key questions of a panel discussion event organized by the BDI’s initiative ‘Business for Climate Protection’ on March 24th in Berlin. For two hours Federal Economic Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, Siemens-CEO Peter Löscher, and Director and Office Manager of McKinsey Germany Frank Mattern discussed with their hosts BDI-President Hans-Peter Keitel as well as BDI Director General Werner Schnappauf, and 300 guests the interrelations of economic crisis and climate crisis, as well as costs and potentials of climate protection.

BDI’s Climate Initiative Discusses Sustainable Mobility at the IAA

The German industry offers globally leading technological solutions for climate-friendly and sustainable mobility. Electric mobility, especially in metropolitan areas, is an important alternative for the future. The road to an intelligent networking of traffic must be taken by politics and economy going hand in hand, BDI President Hans-Peter Keitel said today in occasion of a discussion round on “Sustainable Mobility in Metropolitan Areas” at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt Main.
