Solutions to avoid the climate change
The German industry is serious about protecting the climate. The business community is living up to its responsibility and has launched the BDI Initiative ‘Business for Climate Protection’, thereby helping to provide sustainable responses to climate change. We are convinced that climate protection can only succeed together with the business community.
Providing Solutions
Industry has already developed innovative and cost-effective solutions to the challenges of climate protection. We would like to help implement these solutions on a global scale, also in those regions that are expected to generate the highest emissions over the coming years, primarily in the dynamically industrializing economies.
Developing a Holistic Approach to Climate Protection and Economic Growth
Our technologies and products serve to protect the climate. At the same time, they also represent significant economic opportunities. Economic and environmental objectives are no longer standing in conflict with one another. This also applies with respect to ways out of the economic crisis. Therefore, we are increasing our investments into research and development of innovative environmental technologies. This is essential, if Germany is to retain its global market leadership and remain a driving force for innovation in the area of climate protection.
Supporting a Global Climate Protection Agreement
Germany is responsible for only three percent of global carbon emissions. Our country cannot stop climate change on its own. These problems require global solutions. We support plans for the UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009 to issue a new agreement establishing a binding, global framework for effective climate protection.
