BDI initiativ Side Event held successfully during Bali UN Climate Change Conference (News-Meldung der Initiative „Wirtschaft für Klimaschutz“)

Together with representatives of McKinsey, “BDI initiativ – Business for Climate Protection” successfully introduced the findings of the study in the international realm on December 10th, at the Grand Hyatt in Bali.
On behalf of the industry sector, Dr. Jörg Rothermel of Verband der Chemischen Industrie (VCI) gave a presentation on the conclusions that the chemical industry draws from the study. Many participants learned that other studies based on the McKinsey method are in the making worldwide or have already been published, as is the case in the UK, the US and France. This makes possible an international comparison serving real value for policymakers.
Earlier on the 10th, the Bali Global Business Day took place atthe ConradHotel.It wasorganized for the first time by ICC and WBCSD in partnership with econsense - Forum for Sustainable Development of German Business and the BDI. Dr. Mittelbach of BDI was able to discussthe importance of technologies in combatting climate change with international experts. UN Special Envoy on Climate Change Gro Harlem Brundtland as well as UNFCCC's Executive Secretary Yvo de Boer addressed the conference, that is planned to see follow-ups on the upcoming climate change conferences.
